Bioethanol France,
a professional trade association.

Bioethanol France is the professional trade association representing the interests of French producers of agricultural alcohol (fuel bioethanol and traditional alcohol). The association promotes innovation and collaboration with agricultural, energy, and end-use industry stakeholders to support the transition toward a more sustainable economy and mobility.

Bioethanol, the world's most widely used biofuel

Bioethanol is a biofuel intended for gasoline engines. It is the most widely used biofuel in the world. It replaces part of the fossil fuel in gasoline-type fuels. It significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions and decreases dependence on oil.

OUR COMMITMENT
TO THE ENVIRONMENT

Promoting a more sustainable agricultural, industrial, and energy model

French agricultural alcohol and bioethanol producers fully contribute to developing the local economy by improving its environmental footprint and ensuring the complete valorization of the biomass used.

A sector committed at every stage

Local origin and traceability: French agricultural alcohol and bioethanol come from locally grown crops. They are produced from beets, cereals, and sugar or starch residues.

Carbon footprint reduction: bioethanol production saves 400,000 tonnes of oil per year and helps reduce our energy dependence.

Circular economy : co-products (beet pulp and cereal distillers’ grains, rich in high-nutritional-value proteins) are used for animal feed. The alcoholic fermentation of sugars produces as much biogenic CO₂ as the ethanol itself. This CO₂ is already partly captured and used in carbonated beverages. Il pourra servir demain à la production d’e-fuels pour l’aviation notamment.

Local presence and employment: the bioethanol production sector generates 8,900 direct, indirect, and induced jobs in France.

Superethanol-E85: an ESG-friendly solution for transport and businesses

Superethanol-E85, a renewable fuel made of 60% to 85% bioethanol, is fully aligned with an ESG approach accessible to all mobility stakeholders.

Cleaner mobility – E85 helps reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 50% and fine particle emissions by 90% compared to conventional fossil fuels. It helps improve air quality and combat climate change.

Purchasing power and accessibility – thanks to its significantly lower pump price compared to gasoline, Superethanol-E85 helps reduce fuel expenses, making the energy transition more affordable and equitable.

A solution for company fleets – businesses can integrate E85 into their ESG and sustainable mobility policies. Thanks to approved conversion kits, they can reduce the CO₂ impact of their existing fleet at a low cost, without waiting for a full vehicle renewal.

Supporting French energy – choosing E85 means supporting the French bioethanol industry, which produces fuel from 100% French renewable resources, and contributing to national commitments to decarbonize transport.
