What is Superethanol-E85?<\/h2>\n

Superethanol-E85<\/strong> is a gasoline fuel made up of 60% to 85% bioethanol<\/strong>, depending on the season. This renewable biofuel, produced in France, offers drivers a solution that is both environmentally friendly and economical.
<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is available at more than 3,930 stations \u2014 representing 41% of all stations <\/strong>as of July 2025 \u2014 and powers a fleet of over 400,000 flex-fuel vehicles<\/strong> (one-third factory-built flex-fuel models and two-thirds vehicles equipped with approved E85 conversion kits).<\/p>\n

Superethanol-E85 is available at a competitive price, which can be checked on the official website prix-carburants.gouv.fr<\/a><\/p>\n

Why \u201cE85\u201d?<\/strong> \u201cE\u201d stands for ethanol, while \u201c85\u201d indicates the maximum percentage of ethanol contained in this fuel.<\/p>\n

A 100% renewable <\/strong>Superethanol-E85 is currently under development. The fossil gasoline share (15%) will be replaced by 15% renewable fuel derived from biomass (beet, cereals, sugar and starch residues, and co-products from used oils).<\/p>\n

Bioethanol is an alcohol <\/strong>produced from plant-based raw materials such as:<\/p>\n

\u2022 sugar beets;
\u2022 cereals (corn, wheat) and their processing residues.<\/p>\n

This biofuel is produced through a natural fermentation process of the sugars<\/strong> and starch contained in these plants. Beet pulp and cereal distillers\u2019 grains are co-products used for animal feed, ensuring optimal resource valorization.<\/p>\n

      It allows drivers to save nearly \u20ac700 per year<\/strong> for 13,000 km. Moreover, for 20,000 km driven, the savings exceed \u20ac1,070<\/strong> compared to SP95-E10<\/strong> priced at \u20ac1.68\/L. * <\/strong><\/p>\n

      Superethanol-E85 <\/strong>incorporates a renewable energy source, bioethanol,<\/strong> which helps reduce:<\/p>\n

      Net greenhouse gas emissions <\/strong>by more than 73% on average compared to fossil gasoline (source: CarbuRe \u2013 DGEC 2024).<\/p>\n

      Air pollution<\/strong>, since the ethanol component emits far fewer fine particles during combustion than fossil gasoline. E85 reduces fine particle emissions by up to 90% compared to fossil gasoline, and CO\u2082 emissions by 50%.<\/p>\n
